Dear Parents,
You may send Tylenol, cough drops, etc. that your child may need at school. Please send in the original container. Please include a letter giving us permission to give the medication and a phone number to reach you in case we have a question to ask you.
We are not allowed to give medications containing aspirin, which include Anacin, BC Powder, Pepto Bismol, Alka Seltzer, Kaopectate, Maalox, Midol, or Pamprin. For a complete list of medications containing aspirin go to www.reyessyndrome.org.
Aspirin is not recommended for people under age 19 because it has been linked to Reyes Syndrome.
Any prescription medications must also include a note from the parent. The prescription medication must have a prescription label. If the prescription medication is to be given over a prolonged period of time at school a medication permission form is to be completed by both the physician and the parent. Medication permission forms are kept in my office and in each school office.
If you have any questions please call the nurse at (903) 965-7725.
Sincerely,
Deborah Bennett Williams, LVN
