Art

2009-10

"Commonalities: The Art of Thinking, Thinking of Art."

WHY ART?  Our children see an amazing number of images every day. Just look around. Our world is a very VISUAL place. We are surrounded by images. Whether they are on television, in videos, in magazines and newspaper, on billboards, or in textbooks. Children need to know how to read, judge, and act on the information they receive from these images.

ART CURRICULUM

This school year the children in my Art class will discover how to think critically about what they see. Exploring art will help children analyze, explain, and judge art images. They will also have the opportunity to produce art, allowing them to share their ideas with others.

APRONS AND "ART T-SHIRTS"

Due to head lice and other sanitary issues, I prefer that students do not share aprons/art T-shirts.

Your child is welcome to bring his/her own protection to wear over their clothes on Art days. Many students keep these in their backpack or locker all year long and take it home only when necessary.
