Do I have to turn in a notebook at the end of the six weeks?

Notebooks are optional for a test grade.  Students are expected to keep all of their papers
throughout the six weeks in their notebook.  However, it is optional as a grade at the end of
the six weeks.  If the student has a low test average, the notebook is an excellent way to bring
up that test average.

When are current events done?

Current events are usually assigned the second Thursday of the six weeks and due the third Tuesday.
This is the general rule.  However, if there is a conflict with the school calendar (a three day
weekend or other holiday during that time)the rule is changed.

How do I prepare a current event?

Each student is given a detailed instruction sheet the first six weeks on preparing current events.
The students were instructed to keep this instruction sheet in their notebooks for future reference
during the school year.  Basically, the current event consists of three pages.  The first page consists
of a heading, the name of the publication or web site & the date that the article was published.  If
the article is from the internet, the complete URL is also included here.  Page two is the article
with the student's name in the upper right corner.  If the article is from a newspaper, the article
is attached to a sheet of paper.  The third page is the summary page.  Hand written is at least 15
lines long and typed are 8 lines.  The student's name goes in the upper right corner and the word
"Summary" on the title line.  Students need to practice reading their summary so they are prepared
to read it to the class on the due date.

Do I need to keep my test papers each six weeks?

YES!!!!!  The tests taken during the semester serve as the study guide for the semester test.
Keep those test papers in a safe place so you will be prepared to study for the tests at the
end of the semester.  Mrs. Youree will go back over all of the tests to make sure you have
correct answers and she will narrow down the number of questions you need to study.
